Angels

Angels

Angels are god`s creation, being made of light for the sole purpose of serving and worshiping God. They do not posses free will as human and jinn. Angels carry out God’s commandments, they are generally invisible beings, they may appear to the outward eye if required, in forms suitable for the visible world.

The Qur’an also speaks of angels as playing a crucial role in processes like creation, prophecy, spiritual life, death, resurrection, and the workings of natural elements. For instance, there is an angel who brings the thunder, and he, too, serves God and obeys His command. Other angels are in charge of embryos in wombs, or responsible for protecting human beings.

Some angels are in a state of constant worship of God, prostrating to Him and never raising their heads. Angels are also mentioned in many hadiths. For example, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is reported to have said that when people gather together in remembrance of God, “The angels surround them, mercy covers them, peace descends on them, and God remembers them among those who are with Him” (At-Tirmidhi).

We love the angels because they love the believers and pray for them and because we share with them the belief in the Oneness of Allah and we, along with them glorify Him and proclaim His Holiness. Contrary to what Jews do, we make no distinction between one angel and another.

There are many verses in the Qur'an indicating tasks for which angels are assigned:
[32:11] The angel of death, who has been charged with you, will gather you; then to your Lord you will be returned.

[13:23] Gardens of Eden which they shall enter ... and the angels shall enter unto them from every gate.

[82:10-12] There are over you watchers, noble writers, who know whatever you do.

[86:4] Over every soul there is a watcher

[3:18] GOD bears witness that there is no god except He, and so do the angels and those who possess knowledge. Truthfully and equitably, He is the absolute god; there is no god but He, the Almighty, Most Wise.

[3:42] The angels said, "O Mary, GOD has chosen you and purified you. He has chosen you from all the women.

[33:56] GOD and His angels help and support the prophet. O you who believe, you shall help and support him, and regard him as he should be regarded.

[35:1] Praise be to GOD, Initiator of the heavens and the earth, and appointer of the angels to be messengers with wings - two, three, and four (wings). He increases the creation as He wills. GOD is Omnipotent.
